Thank you for your interest in the Manchester Business School MBA Programme which has been ranked 22nd worldwide (Financial Times 2006, 2007 & 2008). As one of the world’s leading business schools, the Manchester Business School distance learning programmes offer a high level of flexibility where students are able to study at their convenience, with minimum disruption from their jobs, while at the same time obtaining a post graduate degree from a highly recognized international university.
This internationally recognized distance learning MBA Programme is administered within the region, by the Jamaica Institute of Bankers, the Manchester Business School Worldwide Caribbean Centre.
The programmes are designed to fit around the lifestyle and career demands of the working professional. They are delivered using a unique blend of self-study and face-to-face residential workshops, fully supported via an online student community site. The MBA programmes offer a hands-on approach to management development, at the leading edge of dynamic business performance. Learning can be put into practice during day-to-day management duties, enabling students to reap immediate practical benefits.
The programmes give students the option to choose four elective modules, enabling studies to be tailored to individual needs. Students will typically study 2.5 modules per semester.
One of the highlights of the MBS Worldwide MBA is the workshops. For every full module, there is a three-day compulsory workshop, which is an integral part of the MBA programme. Students are required to attend at least 80% of the workshops in order to pass the MBA programme. The workshops enrich the student learning experience, whilst also offering extensive networking opportunities with individuals of the same academic and professional caliber from all over the world and from different organizations.
There are two intakes each calendar year with the first commencing the first week in January and culminating the end of June and the second beginning the first week in July and culminating the end of December.
The minimum requirement (qualification) is a first degree and at least 3 yrs. Management experience. With this you will be eligible to join the Full programme which runs for 5 semesters. One semester is six (6) months, making the duration 2 ½ years for the taught element and an additional 6 month - one year for the project. The total cost is payable on a semester basis (see fee structure below).
Accounting certifications such as ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, ACIS, ICA designations, along with Associate Membership also qualifies you to enter the programme. With this, you will gain exemption from three (3) of the subject areas, therefore making the duration four (4) semesters (2 years). See fee structure below.
Applicants without a first degree or the ACCA designation are also considered for the programme, provided they have had substantial (at least 10 years) experience at a managerial or senior supervisory level.
It is important to note that the minimum age requirement for this programme is 27 years.
After completion of the taught section of the programme (12 courses for the Full Programme and 9 courses for the Accelerated Programme), you will be required to undertake a project/dissertation. This should take a period of one year complete.
