Course Objective

This program is intended to be a follow on from the Certified Financial Planner and will develop competencies by acquiring higher level of mastery of the various techniques and tools associated with each section of knowledge. The CWMP will have a main focus of building wealth management strategies.

  • To further develop competencies by acquiring a high level of mastery of the various techniques and tools associated with each section of knowledge presented in the CFPP.
  • To enhance understanding of Businesses/Shareholder Value and Risk v Return
  • To promote excellence in Client portfolio management by the optimal usage of Assets
  • To build and maintain successful wealth management strategies

Assessment
Candidates to this program will be certified after passing all four modules of the program and the successful completion of a comprehensive Final Qualifying Exam. (See diagram).
The student will then be issued a Certificate that will carry International Accreditation.

  • Intro to Specialized Investment Instruments and Advanced Portfolio Management
  • Market Risk management and the capital markets-Options
  • Time value of money -review day count conventions and compounding
  • Cash money market instruments
  • Interest rate swaps and pricing
  • Value at risk, stress testing and back testing
  • Bonds-yield curves and duration
  • Hedge Funds-performance and investment
  • The role of Fixed Income and Derivatives in an overall Asset
    allocation
Module III

Industry and Business Risk

  • Industry Analysis and Economics
  • Business Strategy and Competitive Positioning
  • Products and markets
  • Managing for Value-Strategic Business Management
  • Managing the People using the Balanced Scorecard
Module IV

Corporate Governance and Wealth Management

  • The functions and organizational structure within the Caribbean
  • The Framework of different Legal Systems
  • US issues within Sarbannes-Oxley and the International Combined Code of Practice
  • Different types of interests in different types of property
  • Legal Matters associated with cross-border transactions

Final Qualifying Exam
The full day exam will consist of comprehensive cases that the candidate will be asked to analyse, draw conclusions and make recommendations in the form of an integrated financial plan. The exam will require that both the analysis and the plan be presented in written form for evaluation.

All Exams are prepared and marked by The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland

Program Prerequisites
Candidates to the Certified Financial Planner Program must fulfil the following requirement:

  • Candidates must have basic knowledge in Computer Skills, Mathematics,
    Principles of Accounting and General Economics.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of a college degree or equivalent.

A team of local and international practitioners will facilitate the programme.
